Using your soldering iron to weld plastic is not limited to repairs: you can weld plastic for fabrication and even artistic purposes. You do not need to go out and buy a plastic welding kit if you already own a soldering iron or station — you can begin welding plastic today.

What temperature should soldering plastic be?

Keep in mind that welding plastics such as PP require you to heat the welding gun to 300C or 570F. The recommended temperature for melting PVC is 275°C or 527°F while that for PE is 265°C or 509°F. Tack-weld the plastic ends to secure them together: Pin any loose plastics together by melting the joints’ ends.

How do you combine PLA rolls?

  1. Roll tin foil closely around the filament to form a tight-fitting metal tube.
