What temperature should I dry nylon filament?

MatterHackers’ preferred tool for drying Nylon is the PrintDry system. Just place the spools in the PrintDry chamber, set the system to 75c, and leave to dry for 8-12 hours. Another way to dry nylon filament is by placing it in an oven at 160°F – 180°F for 6 to 8 hours.

How do you get moisture out of Nylon filaments?

Probably the easiest and most common way of drying filament is to use the oven. Just set the temperature to right below the glass transition temperature of the plastic, and leave it in there for four to six hours for the moisture to evaporate. The longer you leave it, the drier it’ll get.

Should I dry PETG?

As the filaments absorb more water, they make more strings. – So if your final part should withstand force or torque, your PETG filaments need to be dried. PETG doesn’t absorb too much water; Especially if you keep them in a low humidity place, there won’t be severe changes.
